At Pryor Middle School, students are proving that showing up truly matters. Recently, they were recognized for their commitment to perfect attendance and academic excellence, a powerful reminder of the strong connection between being present and succeeding in the classroom.
Research shows that students who miss 10 percent or more of the school year — about two days per month — are at risk of falling behind academically. Chronic absenteeism not only impacts grades but also increases the likelihood of students dropping out of school.
"In Oklahoma, for every 10% increase in chronic absenteeism within a district, math and reading proficiency drop 3-4%, on average." Oklahoma Office of Educational Quality and Accountability.
Pryor Middle School is proud to celebrate students who prioritize their education by showing up, working hard, and staying engaged every day. Their dedication is paying off, and they serve as excellent examples of what it takes to build a strong academic future.
