Fall Sports Preview

Before most of you woke up today, whistles were blowing, cleats were ripping up the grass and sneakers were pounding the pavement. That means only one thing, it's fall sports time in Pryor!

Football held their first official practice this morning with the home opener at the new Tiger Stadium two weeks from this Friday, on August 29th against Sallisaw. The Tigers were a few yards shy of the state semifinals a year ago. They are hungry to get back and make a run at the Gold Ball this season. Several returning starters on both sides of the ball could lead to a fun year at the new stadium. The Tigers will host six home games as well.

Later today, the softball team starts their State Title defense in the Trina Wheeler Festival. They will play Elgin at 5:30 and Guthrie at 7 PM. On Tuesday, they will be back in action at 5 PM against Carl Albert. Every starter returns from a team that celebrated in OKC last year and the goal is still the same for the Tigers.

Coming off their best season in program history, the Pryor Girls Volleyball squad will be facing Claremore on Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM in the Middle School Gym. This year's team is looking to not only best last years win total but make some noise in the playoffs as well.

The boys and girls cross country teams have high expectations going into this season and have been working hard all summer in preparation. Their season will get underway officially later this month with the goal of running on that first Saturday in November.

All of these student athletes having been working extremely hard over the summer to be ready to compete and bring championships home to Pryor. Get out, be loud and support each and every sport this season, its going to be a fun ride!
