group at capitol

Pryor High School seniors Carli Thomas and Aurora Parks recently had the opportunity to experience state government firsthand by serving as pages for Representative Tom Gann during Week 13 of the legislative session, April 26–30.

The page program gives students a close-up look at the legislative process and helps them better understand how laws and policies can impact their communities. While at the Capitol, Thomas and Parks observed legislative sessions, assisted with daily responsibilities, and interacted with state leaders.

For the students, the experience was more than a behind-the-scenes look at government. It was also an opportunity to build leadership skills, practice responsibility and professionalism, and grow in confidence.

“Paging provided us with a valuable opportunity to experience government firsthand and better understand how laws and policies impact our communities,” the students shared. “The program also allowed Aurora and me to build new friendships with peers from across the state, creating connections and memories that can last long after the experience ends.”

Through the page program, students are encouraged to become more civically engaged while developing stronger communication skills and a deeper appreciation for teamwork, dedication, and representing the voices of others.

Pryor Public Schools is proud of Carli and Aurora for representing PHS and Tiger Nation with leadership and professionalism at the Oklahoma Capitol.
