Team of Five middle schoolers

A love for academics was on full display this Valentine’s Day as Pryor Middle School hosted the Oklahoma Junior Academic Bowl Association (OJABA) tournament in a 12-team bracket.

The Pryor Middle School Academic Team battled through a challenging day of competition, dropping one game early before fighting their way back to the championship round. In the finals, the Tigers faced Locust Grove and sealed the tournament title by defeating the Pirates to claim the win.

“The kids are fierce competitors! The credit goes to them and their supportive parents,” said Head Coach Heather Braucher. Braucher also praised Assistant Coach Pam Webster for her leadership and preparation throughout the season. “It’s an honor to be the coach of such a great team,” she said.

With a tournament championship in hand, the Tigers now have their sights set on the next challenge: the OJABA State Tournament on April 11 in Dale.
