Five aviation ace students

Pryor High School’s Aviation Aces took flight this week at the Eastern Oklahoma Regional Aviation Championship, held at Pryor’s MidAmerica Expo Center—and they didn’t just compete, they made history.

This is the first year for this competition, making these students quite literally trailblazers. The inaugural regional event was a huge success, with 29 high school teams taking part. From there, the top six scoring teams advanced to the semi-final/final rounds of the first-of-its-kind Oklahoma High School Aviation State Championship.

The Oklahoma High School Aviation State Championship was made possible through the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) and its strong partnership with FlightSafety International.

Eastern Regional teams advancing to State include: Ada High School, Collinsville High School, Haworth High School, Pryor High School, Union High School, and Wyandotte High School.

Pryor High School will be represented by five Aviation and Aerospace students competing as a team:

  • Caleb Halstead, Senior — Aviation 3 (Pilot Pathway) & UAS Pathway

  • Marie Nicholas, Junior — Aviation 3 (Pilot Pathway) & A&P Mechanic Pathway

  • Abigail Faglie, Junior — Aviation 3 (Pilot Pathway) & UAS Pathway

  • Cooper McCuistion, Sophomore — Aviation 2, Aerospace Engineering Pathway

  • Silas Perry, Sophomore — Aviation 2, UAS Pathway

Their pathways reflect the depth of Pryor’s program, spanning Pilot, UAS, A&P Mechanic, and Aerospace Engineering.

ConCongratulations to all participants for writing a new page in Oklahoma’s legendary aviation history!
